At Thomas Preti Events to Savor, great food is meant to be enjoyed, not wasted.
This year, we’re proud to continue our partnership with City Harvest. To date, our team has donated 2,429 pounds of high-quality surplus food, helping keep good food out of the waste stream and redirect it to New Yorkers who can use it.

For more than four decades, City Harvest has rescued surplus food from businesses across New York City and delivered it, free of charge, to food pantries, soup kitchens, and community food programs throughout the five boroughs. For Thomas Preti, this partnership is a natural extension of our values: plan responsibly, reduce waste wherever possible, and make sure good food goes to its best possible use.
Of course, preventing surplus begins long before an event. Our culinary and operations teams forecast carefully, refine purchasing and production, and continuously look for thoughtful ways to use every ingredient. But events are dynamic. Guest counts change, timelines shift, and sometimes perfectly good food remains. When that happens and the food meets donation guidelines, City Harvest helps us give it a second destination.
Our partnership with City Harvest is not new. In 2020, a postponed event left us with more than 200 pounds of food, and City Harvest helped us turn an unexpected surplus into support for our neighbors. This year’s 2,429-pound milestone reflects how that relationship, and our broader commitment to food responsibility, continues to grow.
Here’s to keeping good food on plates, out of landfills, and moving through the city we call home.
