Back To School Food Planning

Back To School Food Planning

Back To School Food Planning 600 480 Thomas Preti Events to Savor

Once the sandy feet and suntanned faces start to clash with chilly mornings and early sunsets, it can only mean one thing…back to school season has arrived! We’d like to share a few of our favorite back to school food & drink ideas to make the transition from summer solstice into harvest equinox a delicious one!

For your little Starving Artist!

Using a mini artist’s palette, and tiny paint can (found in any craft store) you can recreate this with your little artist’s favorite foods. Here, we have Sweet Potato Tator Tots with Ketchup, Mustard and Sriracha Aioli for the adventurous eaters! You can also fill the paint can with Chicken Fingers or Mini Burgers & Fries!

Sometimes getting your kids to eat is all about the presentation…but then again, who are we kidding?! Same with us adults!

Décor Tip: Use small wooden chalk boards as plates. Pictured:  Our Mini Sloppy Joes on toasted brioche buns

While summer may be fleeting, we’d like to still hold on to some things that can bring us back to a beach day!

These Hot Dogs, cut to look like mini octopus’ are so adorable, and super easy! Pair them with your child’s favorite dipping sauce.

Using a sharp knife, slice the hot dog in half lengthwise, leaving about 2 inches connected at one end. Now, slice each leg in half. You should now have 4 legs for the octopus. Now, carefully cut each of the 4 hot dog legs in half. The legs will be fragile so be careful not to cut any legs off!

Place the octo-dogs in boiling water until fully cooked and heated through. Remove from the boiling water with a slotted spoon. Allow enough time to cool before serving.
